If you can identify your child as low risk for certain diseases, you can be more flexible in terms of timing those vaccines. For example, we know kids from 6 to 10 are at much lower risk of meningococcal meningitis than those older. So we recommend you delay such vaccination till age 10 or 11. Similarly, if you, your partner, and your child's caregivers are not carriers of hepatitis B, we recommend waiting to give this vaccination until 2 months of age or later. Do note that varying from the recommended schedule places the burden of record keeping on you, but if you're up to the task, it may be safer for junior.
