Since the mind is constantly seeking answers, each of us wants to know with certainty about God, the soul, death, and the afterlife. With enough data, the mind assumes it will finally know the answer to cosmic questions. But data is external; facts can only deliver information. There is nothing alive in either, and the soul is life itself. It nourishes a kind of knowledge that constantly renews itself and shapes its understanding to the eternal present.

We call this wisdom. People who believe they are wise because they have lived a long time and have accumulated much experience have confused wisdom with acquisition. You can't acquire wisdom as a possession; you can only expand until the wide embrace of your mind includes enough spirit that it has changed you inside. As the Vedas say, "This is the kind of knowledge you turn into." « Collapse
